What this site is
Days From Today is an independent site that answers one kind of question well: which date is a given number of days, weeks, months or years from today, or ago. It also has free calculators for the days between two dates, business days, age, time durations and calendar arithmetic, plus a Spanish edition for readers in Mexico, Spain and Colombia.
There are no accounts and no paywalls. Every calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you type is sent to us.
How “today” is decided
The site is rebuilt every day just after midnight UTC, so every page is correct when it is served. Your browser then checks your own clock and, if your local date is different, updates every date on the page to match. Each page also says which date it counts from, so you can always check the answer.
The rules we use
- Today is day 0. 1 day from today is tomorrow; 7 days from today is the same weekday next week.
- Every calendar day counts when adding days or weeks, including weekends and holidays. A week is exactly 7 days.
- Months and years keep the day of the month. If that day does not exist in the target month, the date moves to the month’s last day (January 31 + 1 month = February 28, or 29 in a leap year).
- Leap years follow the Gregorian rule: every 4th year, except century years not divisible by 400. 2000 was a leap year; 2100 will not be.
- Days between two dates treats the start date as day 0 and includes the end date, so Monday to Friday is 4 days. You can choose to count the end day as well.
- Business days are Monday to Friday. The English calculator can also skip the 11 US federal holidays on the day they are observed; the Spanish one uses the national holidays of Mexico, Spain or Colombia.
- Week numbers follow ISO 8601: weeks start on Monday, and week 1 is the week with the year’s first Thursday.
How we check it
The date logic is covered by automated tests, including leap days, month ends, year boundaries and every holiday rule, and they run before each daily update is published. If something still looks wrong, please tell us and we will fix it.
